NEWTRENT Airbender 2.0 for iPadAir

After nearly a week now of using the Airbender 2.0 I can now say that a keyboard of this size is definitely a little too cramped for every day use, for my hands at least.
As an inbetweener, and by that I mean in between a touch screen and a laptop, there is an area of usefulness for these sort of devices for people from many walks and jobs. I could see a business man or maybe even a reporter who wants to travel fast and light could definitely make use of one with plenty of practice with the narrow set of the keyboard. The chiclet keys were a pleasure to work with.

I have found a very slight lag in the use of function keys occasionally but when purely typing like this it is quick, smooth and faultless.
The case fitted the back of my iPad Air 64Gb model with a sound secure snap and grips it securely but I get the feeling the polycarbonate used for this part will not take a heavy impact. The ability to detach this part is a big plus but needs a little practice to detach it quickly.

The hinge part to this device is my main area of concern. It just seems so. . .well, fiddly.
I think the addition of some kind of clip/clamp to fasten the bottom or side depending on orientation to the hinge as this would aid opening the shell without having to touch the screen of your beloved iPad Air and affecting any app which may be open.

A pleasant surprise that I didn’t expect to see with this was the support for the sleep wake function, a small thing I know but nevertheless nice. My only other minor niggle is the rubberised clasp, as I can see it either wearing relatively quickly or snapping all together.

My unboxing and first thoughts
)

In closing as a final point I can recomend this item as a useful aide to writing your emails or any typing process on an iPad as it is most definitely faster and easier. On a scale of 1-5 despite the minor points I have mentioned, I would rate it a 5, and if I were in the market for such a device these things would not put me off buying one for the price as it stands on Amazon right now.

Acase Tiptop iPad Air case by @AcaseGlobal

A little over two weeks ago now I unpacked and gave a first look and thoughts on a folio styled case for the iPad Air, and now I’m ready to give my full opinion and review.

So as far as looks go there is absolutely no complaint from me as it looks very smart in its seductive black leather finish and very svelte appearance. I would say this is the thinnest iPad case of this type I have ever seen, let alone use.

The finish from material quality to the stitch work is of a very high standard and should please all but the pickiest of us out there. The solid part of the case fits the iPad very snugly leaving the bezel completely clear and raised above the edges.

One of my earliest worries with this case was the durability of the glue holding the leather binding to the hard shell, however this is completely unfounded as it has shown no sign of wear and neither has the leather at the edge where I tend to mostly fold the cover all the way flat back and hold it as if there was no case attached.

Now the quirky bit to this case is that there are two ways to use the stand/ prop feature. You can either fold the front back and tuck it in giving a good viewing experience for movies and turned over for typing,

or you can use the lip and four grooves for further viewing angles.

Either way gives perfectly usable viewing angles, and I have found this case to be a real pleasure to use.

From a view of protection if you are, shall we say clumsy with your tech, then this is not the case for you as it will not give a large amount of drop protection but if you treasure and value your belongings, and like a classy and executive looking case to show off your iPad then you can’t, in my opinion, go far wrong with this case.

I would like to thank apluscase for sending this case out for my review.

Wear it well.

Wearable technology, the next big thing?
Right now I’m not so sure it’s going to be so. I mean , yeah it’s awesome stuff being able to walk down the street and a quick glance at your wrist tells you what the notification you just got was and which social network it was from, but, how usable will it actually be?google-glass-interactive-glasses-blue-color-resting-white-floor-32722539

The way I see it is this, until we can have a voice activated holographic screen that pops up from the device it will be just a novelty extension of the device in your pocket as the most obvious restriction will be size. Size matters, you will have one hand to touch the screen and interact, connect a keyboard you say, two hands on the keyboard and the screen starts bobbing up and down above the keyboard.

Don’t get me wrong I’m looking forward to the wave of new wearable technology as it gathers speed into the years to come but until it grows in actual usability it can only be an add on device, an extension of the larger device in your pocket and therefore just another expensive watch or pair of glasses.

please leave your take on it in the comments below.
